Weingut Seeger, Weißer Burgunder, QbA trocken, 2008

After having spent quite some time on the Silvaner grape recently, I felt the need to explore Weißburgunder (Pinot Blanc) again, especially as a decent food wine was needed. And as I just heard the the Seeger estate has been accepted into the prestigious club of the VdP (the German association of premier wine estates), it seemed a good idea to open Seeger's basic Pinot Blanc with some food.

Light yellow colour, with a hint of green perhaps. The nose is quite robust, with earthy notes and a bit of nut, plus green apple and a bit of mineral; seems I have not moved too far away from Silvaner here... On the tongue, the wine has a juicy quality, with more nut and a certain earthiness; plus a decent finish too. A nicely balanced dry white that, despite or perhaps because of it not being very complex, I could enjoy with a variety of food.
