Outside of Germany you would pretty much start with a clean slate with regards to Silvaner - at least in the UK. So may point was that Silvaner would be an ideal variety if you want to add something new that no other country does. I would aim for the quality that you will get from good producers in Germany for around €7 and brand it as food friendly. GG Silvaner may remain a niche market, but we found that some of the really good ones can take on GG Riesling. Anyway, Silvaner is another topic, but when you are in London next time I'd invite you to drink this hopefully marvellously good GG Silvaner with me that I hold back for a special occasion.
