I guess that spam has been with us for quite some time now and the serious spammers or internet marketeers using these black hat techniques will continue to adapt to any new measures that are devised to block them. As you point out though it is important that genuine "human" visitors can still get point/information and useful resources out to their audience. As you point out in this interesting post - it's always going to be something of a compromise and I guess the spammers are aware of this too.
